We liberated the country... ...now we liberate the people of East Timor
Our Vision
Timor-Leste is a small country, around 19,000 square kilometers. According to the last census in 2004, there is a population of a little under one million inhabitants.
To develop the country and improve the population’s conditions of life, we must take advantage of the human resources available, by tapping into the potential of each area and each region, we must promote the spirit of work, and we must provide adequate compensation.
CNRT knows that the country’s development is dependant on the conscious and active participation of its population. This active participation in the resolution of national problems is one of the State’s main objectives, consecrated in the Republic’s Constitution. This is essential to consolidate our national independence.
CNRT’s guiding principle is one of belief in the creative and inexhaustible capacity of the people, people of every social component.
CNRT rejects the current public administration that has proved sectarian, centralist, heavy-handed and inefficient. There is an immediate need to radically change this situation, which is reminiscent of a colonial administration.
CNRT has heeded the call of the people who will no longer tolerate this maladministration and poor governance after 7 years of independence.
CNRT will embark on a programme of reform, as it is crucial to the future of Timor-Leste that reform is made and it is made now.
CNRT was forced to form itself to help lead the reform, to reconstruct and reconfigure our governance and administration. The CNRT members see this as their duty to serve and a privilege to serve the people.
